Scripture in Action
Day 1
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Join us for Day 1 of our Bible-in-a-Year journey as we explore the majesty of Creation, the wonder of God's revelation in nature and Scripture, and the powerful beginning of Jesus' ministry through Genesis 1-2, Psalm 19, and Mark 1. Learn practical ways to cultivate wonder and participate in God's ongoing work.
Genesis 1–2
Psalm 19
Mark 1
Today we begin at the very beginning. In Genesis, we see God creating the world with order, care, and purpose. Creation is not chaotic or accidental. God speaks, and life responds. Everything has its place, its rhythm, and its meaning. In Psalm 19, we are reminded that creation never stops speaking. The skies and the earth quietly declare God’s glory every single day. In Mark chapter 1, Jesus steps into history and begins His public ministry. God’s work now moves from creating the world to restoring it. Together, these passages invite us to see God’s world with fresh wonder and to follow Jesus as He continues His work today.
As we hold these readings together, one truth becomes clear. God’s work in creating and saving us calls for a response. It calls us to wonder, not indifference. It calls us to worship, not distraction. And it calls us to take part in what He is doing, not to remain observers.
So how do we respond today? Here are three simple and practical steps drawn from today’s readings.
First, spend ten minutes outside the house, or near a window. Notice one part of creation. Let it slow you down. Thank God for it.
Second, choose one verse from Psalm 19. Write one short sentence about how it connects to your day and what it reveals about God.
Third, think of one current challenge you are facing. Bring it to God and ask this honest question: “How are You using this to prepare and shape me?”
As you move into the rest of your day, remember this. You are not an accident. You are God’s creation, made with purpose. The God who spoke the world into being also formed you, and He is still at work in your life. Today is an invitation to see more clearly, to trust more deeply, and to take one willing step with Jesus.
Thank you for joining me today. Walk through this day with open eyes and a willing heart. Until tomorrow, may wonder guide your steps.
