Scripture in Action
Day 10
Dive into Day 10 as we explore divine promises and true discipleship through Jacob's controversial pursuit of blessing and Jesus' radical teachings about what it really means to follow God.
Day 10 – Divine Purposes and Human Choices
Genesis 26–27
Mark 10
God’s plans keep moving forward, even when people make poor choices. In Genesis chapters 26 and 27, Isaac repeats old fears and Jacob uses deceit to gain what God had already promised. Fear and ambition shape their decisions. In Mark chapter 10, Jesus speaks into this struggle. He calls people to loosen their grip on what they cling to and to follow Him with trust and surrender. Together, these passages remind us that God’s purposes stand firm, but following Him requires a willing heart.
What ties these readings together is this. God’s purposes continue even through human weakness, but true discipleship calls for trust and surrender to His ways.
How do we live this out in simple ways? Here are three practical steps for today.
First, think about one recent decision you made. Ask God to show you the true motive behind it, without excuse or defense.
Second, pray this simple prayer: “Lord, I release this area of my life to You.” Name one thing you are holding onto tightly.
Third, in one relationship today, choose to ask, “How can I serve?” instead of, “What do I want?”
As you carry this into your day, remember this. God’s plans are not fragile. Obedience invites peace, even when outcomes feel uncertain.
Thank you for joining me today. Choose trust over control, and follow Jesus with an open heart. Until tomorrow, may surrender lead you into freedom.
