God speaks, but not everyone is listening. In 1 Samuel chapters 3 to 5, Samuel hears God’s voice in a time when others do not. His response is simple and open. He listens. These chapters also remind us that God’s presence cannot be managed or treated lightly. He is holy and sovereign. Psalm 23 brings a different tone. It speaks of God as a Shepherd who leads, protects, and stays close in every season. In Acts chapter 6, the early church faces practical needs. They respond with wisdom, appointing servants who care for others and strengthen unity.
What ties these readings together is this. God speaks to attentive hearts and works through faithful service.
How do we live this out in simple ways? Here are three practical steps for today.
First, create a quiet moment and say, “Speak, Lord,” allowing space to listen.
Second, trust God’s presence in one situation that feels uncertain or overwhelming.
Third, serve someone today in a practical way that brings care and unity.
As you step back into the rhythm of your day, remember this. God’s guidance becomes clearer when we slow down, listen, and respond.
