Day 87 – Loyalty, Refuge, and Perseverance
1 Samuel 20
1 Chronicles 4
Psalms 56, 57, 142
Acts 14
God often strengthens us through both people and presence. In 1 Samuel chapter 20, Jonathan stands by David with costly loyalty. His friendship is not convenient; it is covenantal. Through him, God provides protection and encouragement. 1 Chronicles chapter 4 lists names that might seem ordinary, yet within them is the prayer of Jabez—a reminder that God sees individuals and responds to sincere dependence. In Psalms 56, 57, and 142, David speaks from places of fear and pressure. He does not hide his distress. He brings it to God and finds refuge there. In Acts chapter 14, Paul and Barnabas continue their mission despite opposition and suffering. They strengthen others by persevering themselves.
Together, these passages reveal a steady truth. God is a refuge for His people and strengthens them to persevere faithfully.
So how do we respond today? Here are three simple and practical steps shaped by today’s readings.
First, thank God for a loyal relationship in your life.
Second, bring one fear honestly before God in prayer.
Third, persevere faithfully where obedience feels costly.
As you move through your day, remember this. God does not always remove difficulty, but He provides strength, refuge, and people to walk with you through it.
Thank you for joining me today. Stay faithful, stay honest before God, and keep moving forward with quiet perseverance.
