Day 109 – Wisdom, Desire, and Life
1 Kings 3
2 Chronicles 1
Psalm 42
Romans 8
What we ask for reveals what we truly value. In 1 Kings 3 and 2 Chronicles 1, Solomon begins his reign by asking God for wisdom instead of wealth or power. He desires the ability to lead God’s people well. Psalm 42 expresses another kind of longing—the deep thirst of the soul for God Himself in the middle of weariness and discouragement. Romans 8 brings these desires into full clarity. It speaks of life in the Spirit, freedom from condemnation, and the assurance that nothing can separate us from the love of God. Together, these passages show that when our desires are rightly directed toward God rather than self, He meets us with wisdom, strength, and lasting hope.
Taken together, these passages show us something important. When our deepest desire is aligned with God, He meets us with wisdom, life, and unshakable hope.
So what might faithfulness look like today? Here are three simple and practical steps shaped by today’s readings.
First, identify one desire that may be shaping your decisions more than your trust in God.
Second, ask God specifically for wisdom rather than quick answers or immediate relief.
Third, choose to rest today in the assurance that nothing can separate you from God’s love.
As you continue through your day, remember this. Many desires promise satisfaction, but only God can truly satisfy the deepest hunger of the soul.
Thank you for joining me today. Seek God above every lesser desire and trust His love to sustain you. Until tomorrow, may His wisdom and peace guide your heart.
