Day 134 – Walking Wisely in a Crooked World
Ecclesiastes 7–9
Psalm 46
2 Timothy 3
Some days the world just feels unfair. The honest get overlooked, the dishonest get ahead, and you wonder what wisdom is even for. Today's readings meet you right there. In Ecclesiastes 7 through 9, the Teacher gives clear-eyed counsel for real life. The race doesn't always go to the swift, and good people don't always get an easy road. Then Psalm 46 breaks in like a shout of confidence. God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. And Paul warns Timothy that hard times are coming, then points him straight back to the Scriptures he's known since childhood, the very thing that makes him wise. Seen as a whole, these readings reveal how to keep walking faithfully when the ground feels uneven.
These passages point us to one clear lesson. Wisdom isn't a life with no trouble. It's the strength to walk faithfully through trouble, anchored in God and His Word.
So how do we put this into action? Three simple steps.
First, take five real minutes of stillness today. No phone, no agenda. Sit with Psalm 46, where God says, be still, and know that I am God. Let your racing mind slow down in His presence.
Second, name one situation that feels unfair or tangled right now, and hand it over to God in prayer. He says He will be exalted among the nations. So trust the outcome to the One who sees what you can't.
Third, pick one area where you feel unprepared, maybe a relationship, a decision, or a fear. Paul says Scripture equips us for every good work. So read into that area this week and let God's Word train you for it.
Before the day gets busy, remember this. God is not shaken by what is shaking you. So run to Him. Ask Him not to remove every obstacle, but to give you the wisdom to walk through what's in front of you.
Thank you for joining me today. May God be your refuge in the storm, your wisdom in the confusion, and your steady anchor in His Word. Until tomorrow, stay rooted in His Word and steady in His love.
